Model 2400 Twin Screw TMR Vertical Feed Mixer
Success Story
Consistent Mix Achieves Favorable Results!
Glenn and Mae Hissong began their life as dairy farmers with seven cows on the farm they purchased in Mercersburg, PA, in 1949. Their son Ron and his wife, Judy, entered into a partnership with them in 1971 and eventually bought them out in 1980. Over time, sons Rick and Rod had joined the family business.
In 1999, a sub S corporation was formed making Ron, Judy, Rick and Rod Hissong owners of Mercer Vu Farms Inc. with a herd of 450 milking cows.
Mercer Vu Farms Inc. expanded their operation in 2002 and now the Hissong family milks 1,500 cows. Feeding a herd this size is a big job and mixer reliability is essential. In 2005, Mercer Vu Farms purchased a Patz Model 2400 Twin Screw Vertical Mixer from their local Patz Dealer, Cedar Crest Equipment in Myerstown, PA, and have been very pleased with the mixer’s performance.
According to the Hissongs, the extra capacity of their 950 cu. ft. Patz Model 2400 Vertical Mixer helps provide a better mixture of their feed. Their ration includes corn silage, haylage, concentrate, ground corn, soybean meal, cotton seed, corn gluten feed and chocolate. The Patz mixer delivers a consistently blended ration to their herd two times each day, helping them to achieve good milk production, favorable components and good herd health. Mercer Vu Farms’ herd averages 25,200 M, 3.7 F, 3.11 P.
Mercer Vu Farms also appreciate the competent and reliable service they receive from their local Patz Dealer. For more information about Mercer Vu Farms Inc., visit their website at www.mercervufarms.com.
