Model 2400 Twin Screw TMR Vertical Feed Mixer Success Story
Patz Model 2400 Ranks High At Dutchland Dairy
Dutchland Dairy, established 7 years ago by Dan, Dave and Dean Duitscher, milks 700 cows in Rolfe, Iowa. They had owned two other vertical mixers before purchasing the Patz Model 2400 Twin Screw Vertical Mixer from their local Patz dealer Gorter's Clay & Dairy Equipment in Pipestone, Minnesota.
"We like verticals because we feed up to 10 lbs. of hay," explains Dan. "We like the Patz because it's bigger than our old mixer but still shorter than the other verticals."
"We like the way it mixes and how we can control the fiber length in the ration," Dan adds. "It mixes fast and we only start the mixer once we have about half of the ration in the mixer."
Dutchland Dairy will be adding side extensions to provide extra capacity. "Once we put the sides on we should be able to save more time because we can eliminate one group," says Dan.
Dan and feedman A.J. Jansen both agree that the Patz cleans out better than the other verticals and they also like how heavy it is.
"The Patz has a more consistent mix. Some rations are about 25,000 lbs," says A.J., "and I like the 8 wheels under the mixer -- our old vertical only had 4."
"The Patz unloads fast, more consistent and I like the two-way discharge," A.J. adds. "Our old vertical just dumped the feed out the sides. Clean out is really good."
